Carly Usdin is a queer, non-binary LA-based filmmaker known for directing diverse projects ranging from Monét X Change’s variety show Monét’s Slumber Party and Dropout’s Um, Actually , to the sports comedy series The Syd + TP Show for Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort.

Their past work includes the horror-comedy anthology Threads, TruTV’s Late Night Snack with Rachel Dratch, and the branded short First Date for Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, as well as festival-winning films Suicide Kale and Misdirection. A pioneer in digital-native content with credits like YouTube’s YouTube Nation and Awkwafina’s TAWK, Usdin has also helmed award-winning campaigns for RuPaul’s Drag Race and directed branded content for major clients including Google and Target.

 They are the creator and writer of BOOM! Studios’ comic series Heavy Vinyl and The Avant-Guards, and have been recognized through programs like Universal’s Directors Initiative, AFI’s DWW+, and Women in Film’s Directing Fellowship. Currently in post-production on a women’s sports documentary and developing multiple projects, Usdin blends a love of storytelling with a passion for drag, women’s sports, and their dog.
